Arrangement of geometric shapes on a plane surface or region without any gaps or overlapping between the shapes.

The arrangement of shapes in three-dimensional space is called a honeycomb.

Of the regular polygons, only equilateral triangles, squares, hexagons, octagons and decagons can be used to create a tessellation on a plane, and in 15 different arrangements.
