The mean of this precipitation is: [latex]\overline{x}=\frac{1\space +\space 4\space +\space 12\space +\space 8\space +\space 0\space +\space 7\space +\space 3}{7}[/latex] = [latex]\frac{35}{5}[/latex] = 5.
Calculating the mean of a set of data is a statistical calculation.
