The portion of the surface of a sphere bounded by minor arcs of various great circles. This portion of the sphere is subtended by a polyhedral angle whose vertex is the centre of the sphere.

- The sphere below is tiled with spherical polygons, that is, spherical triangles and spherical pentagons. Note that the sides of the polygon are segments of a curve.
