Set of Whole Numbers

The set of numbers that are used to count or to tally objects in a set.
We can also define the set of whole numbers as being the set of cardinals of finite sets.

Symbols

  • The set of whole numbers is noted as [latex]\mathbb{W}[/latex]. [latex]\mathbb{W}[/latex] = [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, ...}
  • The set of natural numbers is noted as: [latex]\mathbb{N}[/latex]*. [latex]\mathbb{N}[/latex]* = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, …}

Properties

  • The sequence of whole numbers is an infinite sequence.
  • The number 0 is a whole number.
