Functions

Power Function

A function defined by a relation of the form f(x) = [latex]{x}^{2}[/latex], where n is a real number.

Examples

Consider the power function defined by f(x) = [latex]{x}^{n}[/latex].
  • If n > 0, the function is a polynomial function :  f(x) = [latex]{x}^{2}[/latex].
Fonction Puissance
  • If n < 0, the function is a rational function :  f(x) =[latex]{x}^{-2}[/latex] = [latex]\frac{1}{{x}^{2}}[/latex].
