Possible Event

Possible Event

Event that can occur, but that cannot be predicted.
It corresponds to a non-empty subset of the universe of possible outcomes.

Sometimes, we use the expression probable event instead of possible event.

Examples

In the random experiment that consists of rolling an honest die with 6 faces numbered 1 to 6, the event that consists of rolling a number greater than 2 includes 4 possible results: {3, 4, 5, 6}.

In the random experiment that consists of drawing a ball from a bag that contains red, blue, and yellow balls, the event that consists of drawing a ball that is not yellow has 2 possible results: {red, blue}.

These two events are possible.
