# Measure of Central Tendency

## Measure of Central Tendency

Number that represents the centre of a distribution and the position of the various values of the distribution in relationship to this centre.

The main measures of central tendency are arithmetic mean, median and mode.

### Example

This distribution provides a list of the ages of 25 students in a grade 6 class.
10, 10, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13

• The mean is: $$\overline{X}$$ = $$\dfrac{295}{25}$$ = 11,8
• The median is: Méd = 12
• The mode is: Mod = 12
