Measure of Central Tendency


Number that represents the centre of a distribution and the position of the various values of the distribution in relationship to this centre.

The main measures of central tendency are arithmetic mean, median and mode.

Example

This distribution provides a list of the ages of 25 students in a grade 6 class.

  • The mean is: \(\overline{X}\) = \(\dfrac{295}{25}\) = 11,8

  • The mode is: Mod = 12
