Decimal Notation
Representation of a real number with a whole part and a decimal part (also called the fractional part) separated from one another by a decimal point.
Examples
- The decimal notation of the number 12[latex]\frac{3}{4}[/latex] is: 12.75. The whole part is 12 and the decimal part (also called the fractional part) is 0.75.
- The decimal notation of the number [latex]\frac{7}{2}[/latex] is: 3.5. Its whole part is 3 and its decimal part (also called the fractional part) is 0.5.
