Operations

Cryptarithm

Game where digits are replaced by letters or other symbols in an arithmetic operation.
In a cryptarithm, a single symbol (letter or other symbol) replaces a single digit. If the different elements form a meaning, then the cryptarithm is called an alphametic.

Example

Replace the letters with digits so that the numbers found produce an accurate addition:
[latex]\space[/latex]
SIX
+      SEVEN     +      SEVEN TWENTY
Solution :
650 +    68782 +    68782 138214
The solution to the alphametic TEN+ TEN+ FORTY = SIXTY is 850 + 850 + 29 786 = 31 486.
