Sequence of Multiples

To create a sequence of the multiples of a whole number, multiply a whole number that is different from 0 by the sequence of whole numbers.

Notation

The notation of the set of multiples of a whole number n is “mult(n)” which is read as: “the set of multiples of n“.

Properties

  • The sequence of integer multiples of 8 is: mult(8) = {…, –40, –32, –24, – 16, –8, 0, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, …}
  • The sequence of multiples of a whole number is an infinite sequence.

Examples

  • 8 × 0 = 0
  • 8 × 1 = 8
  • 8 × 2 = 16
  • 8 × 3 = 24
  • Etc.

The sequence of whole number multiples of 8 is: mult(8) = {0, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, …}
