Polynomial Expression

Expression of the form [latex]A_{n}x^{n}+A_{n-1}x^{n-1}+A_{n-2}x^{n-2}+...+A_{1}x+A_{0}[/latex] where n is the degree of the expression.
  • The values An of the preceding expression are called the coefficients of the polynomial expression or the polynomial.
  • A first-degree polynomial expression is a linear polynomial.
  • A second-degree polynomial expression is also called a quadratic polynomial.

Examples

  • The expression [latex]{x}^{2}[/latex]+ 3x + 1 is a second-degree polynomial expression.
  • The expression [latex]{x}^{4}[/latex]– 81 is a fourth-degree polynomial expression.
