Parallel

Parallel

General term used to indicate the relationship between two elements or objects that are the same distance apart from each other, at any point.

Parallel lines, straight or curved, are graphical elements where there is the same distance between corresponding points, across a given direction.

The word parallel is also used to represent each imaginary circle parallel to the great equator circle, along with the big circles passing through the poles, used to establish the longitude and latitude of a given point on the globe. Each parallel contains all the points having the same latitude.
