Number that expresses a volume. This number is related to the unit of measure used.
Examples
- This cube has an edge length of four centimetres.
Its volume V is 64 cubic centimetres, or: V = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64.
- The unit of measure used, cubic centimetres, is a conventional unit of measure.
We can also say that the volume of the cube is 64 unit cubes, which is an unconventional unit of measure. - The volume V of this prism is 96 cubic centimetres, or: V = 3 x 4 x 8 = 96.
