Amplitude of a Periodic Function

Amplitude of a Periodic Function

Half of the distance between the maximum and the minimum of a periodic function.

If the function has several local maxima and minima, the amplitude is half of the distance between the greatest maximum and the least minimum.

Example

In this graph of the function defined by f(x) = cos(x), we can see that the amplitude of the function is equal to 1.
