The equivalence of equations is indicated by using the logical equivalence symbol “⇔”, which is read “is equivalent to”.
Example
The equations 5x – 6 = 3x + 2 and x = 4 are equivalent equations.
This can be written as 5x – 6 = 3x + 2 ⇔ x = 4.
