Representation of a number as the product of its prime divisors.
In this type of decomposition, all of the factors must be prime numbers.
Examples
Here are some decompositions of numbers into prime factors.
- \(24 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 3\), because 2 and 3 are prime numbers.
- \(36 = 2^{2}\) × \(3^{2}\), because 2 and 3 are prime numbers.
- \(900 = 2^{2}× 3^{2} × 5^{2}\), because 2, 3, and 5 are prime numbers.
