# Line Segment

## Line Segment

Portion of a line bounded by two points called the endpoints of the segment.

The length of a line segment is the distance between the endpoints of the segment.

### Symbol

The line segment bounded by points A and B is denoted by $$\overline{\textrm{AB}}$$, which is read “the line segment with endpoints A and B” or “the segment AB“.

### Example

• This is a segment AB with endpoints A and B. The length of line segment AB is 6 cm, which is written : m$$\overline{\textrm{AB}}$$ = 6 cm.
