Line Segment

Line Segment

Portion of a line bounded by two points called the endpoints of the segment.

The length of a line segment is the distance between the endpoints of the segment.

Symbol

The line segment bounded by points A and B is denoted by \(\overline{\textrm{AB}}\), which is read “the line segment with endpoints A and B” or “the segment AB“.

Example

  • This is a segment AB with endpoints A and B. The length of line segment AB is 6 cm, which is written : m\(\overline{\textrm{AB}}\) = 6 cm.Longueur d'un segment de droite
