Examples

  • In a prism, all the faces other than the 2 parallel and congruent bases are lateral faces. A triangular prism has 3 lateral faces and 2 congruent and parallel bases.

  • In a pyramid, all the faces other than the base are lateral faces. A square pyramid has 4 lateral faces and 1 square base.
