John Wallis (1616-1703)

Seventeenth century English mathematician. His work, a precursor of Newton's, also paved the way for the development of phonetics, Deaf education and speech therapy. He is credited with having introduced the infinity symbol (∞) as it is used today. He was also one of the founders of the famous Royal Society (Oxford). John Wallis John Wallis (1616-1703)
