Frame of Reference of a Coordinate System

Frame of Reference of a Coordinate System

The elements (origin, axes, scale, etc.) that define a coordinate system.

Example

In a Cartesian plane, the origin O, the perpendicular axes and the scale on the axes are elements from the frame of reference of this coordinate system. These basic elements are used to associate an ordered pair of coordinates \((x, y)\) to each point on the plane.
