In an algebraic expression, the term that is a number or that has a value that is fixed and unchanging.

### Examples

• In the equation 2x + y + 8 = 0, the constant term is 8.
• In the definition of a rational function whose rule is of the form f(x) = kx, the term k is considered to be a constant term in the expression.
