Cartesian Coordinates of a Point

In a Cartesian diagram of degree n, the n-tuple of numbers used to determine the position of this point with respect to each axis.

The values on each of the axes are determined with parallel projections of the point onto the axes.

Examples

  • In the diagram below, the Cartesian coordinates of point A are (6, 2).
  • In this illustration, the Cartesian coordinates of point A are (1, 3, 2).  That is, the x-coordinate is 1, the y-coordinate is 3 and the z-coordinate is 2.
