Sexagesimal Degree

Sexagesimal Degree

Unit of measure for angles and, by extension, for arc of circles, in the sexagesimal system for measures of angles.

The sexagesimal system uses the base 60.
It is mainly used to measure angles and subdivisions of hours.

A degree of an angle can be subdivided into 60 minutes, a minute can be subdivided into 60 seconds and a second can be subdivided into 60 thirds. Although these units of measure are not part of the International System of Units (SI), they are widely used and therefore accepted units.
