Rod Graph

Diagram in which we represent the values of a distribution of a discrete quantitative statistical variable using vertical and horizontal segments.

Rod graphs look similar to bar graphs. However, bar graphs are mostly used to represent a qualitative statistical variable while a rod graph is used for a quantitative statistical variable .

 

Example

Here is an example of a rod graph in the case of the distribution of a quantitative statistical variable. This diagram represents the results of the 32 students in a class on their most recent math test:
