Algebraic expression that can be expressed as a quotient of two polynomial expressions.

In a rational expression, the variables are not arguments of a radical.

Examples

These two expressions are rational expressions :

  • \(12 + 5{y}^{2}\)
  • \(\dfrac{3{a}^{2}}{b + 3}\)
