Statistical Series

Statistical Series

Set of values of a statistical characteristic X compiled in an inquiry regarding a sample of a given population.

If the inquiry focuses on two statistical characteristics X and Y, the statistical series will then be formed by ordered pairs of values (x1, y1), (x2, y2), …

A statistical series is defined with a population and a qualitative or quantitative characteristic.

Example

We asked a group of soccer players to tell us their ages. We obtained the following values: 28, 25, 32, 21, 27, 30.

The list of data 28, 25, 32, 21, 27, 30 is a statistical series.
