Square Number

Figurate number that we can represent by a square or a sequence of interlocked squares.
The sequence of square numbers is: 1, 4, 9, 16, … n2 where n represents both the position of the term in the sequence and the number of points on the largest square in the figure.

Educational Note

  • The number 0, which is the square of the whole number 0, is not a square number.
  • The sequence of squares of whole numbers is : 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, …, n² where n represents the whole number with position (n – 1).
