Set of values or objects that can be used as the end points of the ordered pairs in a relation.
The set of destination includes the range of the relation, or the set of values that its dependent variable can take
Examples
- Consider the relation “y = 2x + 1” where x is an element in the set of whole numbers.
The set of departure is the set of whole numbers, including: {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …}.
The set of destination is the set of odd whole numbers, including: {1, 3, 5, 7, 9, …}. - In the illustration below showing a relation between the set E and the set F, the set F = {1, 2, 4, 8, 16} is the set of destination of the relation. The range of this relation is {2, 4, 8, 16}:
