Literal Expression

Expression in which the numbers or magnitudes are represented by letters.

Most common geometric formulas, such as the formula used to calculate the area A of a circle, A = π\({r}^{2}\), are literal expressions.

Example

The expression A\({x}^{2}\) + Bx + C = 0 is a literal expression.
