Two numbers are inverses of each other when their product is 1.

Examples

  • The inverse of 2 is \(\dfrac{1}{2}\) since \(2 × \dfrac{1}{2} = 1\).
  • The inverse of \(\dfrac{2}{3}\) is \(\dfrac{3}{2}\) since \(\dfrac{2}{3}\) × \(\dfrac{3}{2} = 1\).
