Cabinet Projection

Cabinet Projection

An oblique projection in which the direction of projection forms a 63.4° angle with the projection plane.

This type of projection is often used in furniture illustrations. For this reason, the term “cabinet” is used to refer to this type of representation.

Properties

  • The image of the solid obtained on the projection plane preserves the parallelism of the segments.
  • The image of a cube with one face parallel to the projection plane shows the actual length of all the edges of the face while preserving their parallelism. The ratio between the size of the images projected along the third axis and their true size, is \(frac{1}{2}\).
